These areas have high numbers of Indigenous population with chronic health conditions. Management of these kind of health issues or even diagnostic procedures regularly require repatriation to a major capital city – sometimes several trips. These costs are from taxpayer’s dollars which are being spent on flights, accommodation and specialists who are sent to the regional centres on monthly or less frequent visits.
